M&S sales increase as growth strategy progresses
M&S sales were up 9.9% for the year to Apr 1 with clothing and home sales up 11.5% to £3.72bn and food sales up 8.7% to £7.22bn resulting in a profit before tax of £482m ahead of forecasts.
Kingfisher sales dampened by wet weather
Kingfisher sales were up 0.8% to £3.3bn for Q1 however trading since early April has shown “improvement” and it expects to report adjusted profit-before-tax of £634m for FY23.
Lidl eyes share of Tesco Clubcard profits after winning trademark battle
Lidl may seek a share of profits made by Tesco from its Clubcard scheme after the discounter won a trademark battle over the use of a circular yellow logo on a blue background.
Urban Outfitters Q1 comparable sales up by 5%
Urban Outfitters group sales were up 5.9% to $1.11bn with net income of $53m with net sales up 17% at Free People, up 13% at Anthropologie but down 13% at Urban Outfitters.
VF Q4 revenue and earnings decline
Vans and The North Face parent VF Corporation’s Q4 sales were down 3% to $2.7bn and FY23 revenue was down 2% to $11.6bn.

How to get your brand on the May Editorial Calendars, higher up on search engines and in social media
We’re now well into Spring, so carry on adding those spring-summer-related images and there are bank holidays aplenty this month, and hopefully, we’ll have great weather. So add all those keywords relating to being out of the house and into the garden and the great outdoors; keywords to add include garden, garden parties, barbecues, (don’t forget to add all of the other spellings BBQ, Bar-B-Que etc) picnics, outdoors etc.
Summer holidays are on the horizon so images of beach holidays and swimwear, as well as holiday clothes, festival clothes and all of the associated keywords and phrases eg sandals, beachwear, swimsuits, bikinis, linen, summer wear.
Although with the cost-of-living increases not everyone will be going abroad so still keep keywords and phrases like “staycation” “holistay” “holiday at home” to your keywords, and why not suggest clothing like cardigans and hoodies for the colder UK evenings.
May is also the start of wedding season so if you have any wedding-related items, then get ready to promote them with any wedding keywords, bridal, bride, groom, hen party, stag do etc.
